In order to participate in the RR Challenge, you must this certificate. This is NOT negotiable. You must acknowledge that your parameters that are created are and will be available for community use and included in the parameter packs when the challenge is concluded.
If you do not this agreement, you cannot participate.
Well, I give you a set of parameters, then you tweak them, post the image and send the parameters for that image to your partner. Then in turn will do the same thing and pass the parameters to you. We go around 2 times. You make a total of 6 images, then send all of the parameters for the 6 images to me, and I will put them in a parameter pack for the entire community to experiment with.
That is basically it. Just a small lesson in flame/parameter evolution.
No worries sweetie, I will partner you with me depending on how many more sign up for the teams, and how they are divided. Don't worry, I got your back. Some pimpage for the RR would be great though if you are so inclined. I think we have different watchers.
I'm so caught up between different account's and different sites... Have a few paintings I need to get done this week and am helping Lauren and Vulcie out judging a comp.... doubt I'll have the time to go pimping and trying to hunt down a partner which is why I suggested the advert!!....
Coupled with a bad dose of what may yet turn into Bronchitis... Nailed yesterday with a Fibro Headache/Migraine - take your pick, bad chest and general weakness... We just hit autumn here which explains it... Last 2 years I had chronic bronchitis as you know so looks like I am bang on Cue
Sweetie, do not worry about the partner....I know there are a few people still to join in....we still have the rest of this week for sign-up. No advert needed for that. If worst comes to worse, I would be thrilled to be your partner. ss
Sorry you are under the weather. I know bronchitis is the worst....I have bouts of it as well with my COPD. Just take care of yourself sweetie. ss
~ O dear, what started out as a casual picnic in the country is transformed to a catered gourmet hi-end event in a tent in a security fenced compound, entry by laminated iris scan passes patrolled by exSeals with sniffer dogs.
Ain't it always the way. What were once free-spirited music festivals now controlled by gangs & cops. Sheep go to Heaven, goats go to Hell...ok.....baaaa...baaaa...I'm in
I'm sorry it has come to this sweetie. I feel I have no choice but to put the document and participation depending on the acknowledgment of the params intended use. It is part of the way I have to view it now. I wish it wasn't this way, but you know the story. It only takes 1 or 2 people...in this case (3) people to ruin it for all. With the community demanding some form of protection....the choices are limited. The alternative for me was to NOT have the challenge at all, and I certainly didn't want that to happen. So, just short of a retina scan is was we are left with. ss
If you want to participate, you need to leave a comment on the poll. Basically, I put out the explanation and rules a few days before we begin but here is a summary for you.
A round Robin is when you are given a set of parameters, you tweak them, and send them on to the next person on your team. It is like telling a secret, and each time it gets told to someone else it changes....so by the time it gets to the end, it is totally different than what you started with.
Well... I would be afraid as a noob of messing up the pic for my team. Then everybody would get upset with me. If I'm working by myself then I don't have anyone to gripe at me if I mess it up or take too long in getting it done. I don't like people getting pissed off at me. I don't handle that very well. I'm very sensitive and get my feelings hurt easily. Being new at this there are many things I don't know and people would probably be very impatient with me because of it. So maybe I'm safer just trying to learn on my own. When I get better maybe then people won't be as likely to get upset with me.
Perfectly understandable. Maybe watch a few challenges, and get a little better before you attempt it. I appreciate your interest in the challenge however, and will look forward to you participating in the future. ss
What did the 3 people that ruined it do? I know it's probably not any of my business anyway since I'm new to DA and the club and obviously didn't have any part in whatever went on, but... I'd like to know just so that my noob little self doesn't accidentally do something wrong. arg. I like to keep myself out of trouble as much as possible. I know that we need rules in order to not step on other people's toes; but I need to know the rules before I can follow them. So I'd really like to know what happened (without mentioning any names, obviously) so that I can know what *not* to do in the future.
I already know you're not supposed to take the params and just change the color or something simple like that and call them your own. I'm still not quite sure how much tweaking has to be done in order for it to truly be considered new though. I'd like to know more about that as well... if there's some guidelines available. If you tweak it too much it won't have any of the original params' characteristics and there's no sense using the params anyway, but how do you know when enough is enough?
We have had people take the parameters, change the gradient and re-upload the fractal calling it their own when in all actuality...it is not their work. This ruins the challenges because people are not going to want to participate if other artists using the packs do not tweak the images and basically steal someone else's work.
OK, to answer your question about tweaking, here is a visual link that should explain it better--->[link]
It is possible to tweak an image to the point that it is unrecognizable, still unique and an awesome piece of work. Hope this answers your question. If not, let me know.
yes the second set of pics were very different! They were so different though that it seems like it would be just as easy to start from scratch than to have to go to the trouble of downloading params and putting them in place to use.
Forgive my ignorance please. I'm not only new to DA and to the club but I'm also new to Apo and almost new to fractals in general. I used to do some dabbling with another program (I can't remember right now the name of the one I used and it's been years since I stopped) but I just played with stuff until I saw something I liked. I never did anything like downloading scripts and flames or even gradients. (I've downloaded some recently but I still don't really know how to use them.) I didn't have any kind of tutorials or training with it. (I don't think the version I had even came with a help file.) I just kept clicking on stuff to see what happened. If I saw something I liked then I saved it.
Maybe I should just start from scratch for now until I'm more experienced and familiar with the program and the club expectations. I wanted to try my hand at the round robin but I don't want to get my butt in trouble. So.... better safe than sorry.
If we started from scratch, it would be pointless to have the challenge. Basically you are tweaking 1 set of parameters....everyone in your team has a crack at it. A great place to get some help is the *fractalmentorproject You would be paired with an experienced fractalist who would help you to learn the program, techniques, scripts, plugins....you name it!
I found them and I have them on watch but I've been too busy trying to keep up with my stupid box that I haven't gotten over there yet. I didn't know much about the watch thing and how many deviations people did or how many deviations clubs sent out. So I put a watch on quite a few clubs and artists. They're filling my box and it's hard to keep up with deviations, messages, notes, etc. because of all the things coming in each day. I get at least 100 each day and probably closer to 150 or even 200 actually. I come on throughout the day to check stuff and one time there will be almost 100 and the next time 20 or 50 another time. It's getting frustrating because I don't have hardly any time at all to play with Apo for trying to keep up with my box. arg. I'm thinking of taking everything off except for just a chosen few... maybe no more than half a dozen, including clubs. Maybe then my box will calm down. I do want to explore fractalmentorproject though! It sounds like that would be the perfect place for me! In fact, I think I'll head over there now!
First let me say that I agree to all the terms and conditions here. That's not why I don't want to fave it.
I am very... erm, protective of my faves list. I only fave art that I really, really, REALLY like. I've been on dA for almost five years but I only have 207 faves because I only fave stuff that I want to look at again and again. My faves gallery is *very* special to me. Please don't make me add this.
Also, I think it would even be better on your end to do the agreement by comments instead of faves. Think of it this way: anyone can fave this and then just remove the fave. But they can't remove their comments. It's more permanent. Plus, it seems more official to have a typed comment saying "I agree" than just pushing the fave button.
So here you go: I agree. I hope that is enough... if not, I guess I just won't be able to participate.
I would like you to participate, however, there is a reason for this to be faved. It can always be unfaved at the end of the challenge by anyone who would like to unfave it. Because of what happened a couple of weeks ago, for my own piece of mind, I need to make sure that EVERYONE understands the use of the parameters and what is expected. Everyone was aware that changes would have to be made in the way we were doing things.
It is important that the meaning is not misunderstood. If I make an exception for 1, then I have to make an exception for all. I will accept your reason for not faving at this time, eventhough I feel it diminishes the spirit in which it is intended.
It is to acknowledge that the parameters will be available for everyone to use. I will revise the agreement next time around, but for now this was the easiest solution to the current issue. The meaning has to be crystal clear to all what the intentions are regarding their parameters created from donated parameters. I am sure you can agree that the document is needed.
I will accept your verbal "Yes" to the terms however, and respect your reasons for not faving the document with the rest of the group. I realize, it is not the prettiest thing to look at.
